Sand, stones, and mirages and blue skies and stars as far as the eye can see; tiny beetles like the Tok Tokkie, which collects its supply of moisture by fogbasking; antelope such as the gemsbok whose body can heat up to temperatures which no other living being would be able to survive; plants like the Welwitschia, some of which are several hundred years old and still growing; and the desert so vast, so inhospitable, but nevertheless so diverse, so colorful, and so much alive: these are just a few of the images of the Namib Naukluft Park.
Namib Naukluft Park is the largest nature conservation in Africa, extending between the tarred road Aus-Luderitz in the south and the Swakop River in the north, and from the Atlantic Coast in the west to the highlands in the east.
Within this region, many sub-regions are found, including Sossusvlei, famous for dunes as tall as skyscrapers, and NamibRand Private Reserve where eco-conservation and incredible desert experiences are extremely popular.
