Kitich Camp
Kitich Camp is located in the remote Matthew’s Mountain Range, one of the more rarely visited areas of Kenya’s Northern Frontier District. The forested valley is home to numerous species including the rare melanistic leopard and other forest-habituated varieties, offering an interesting change from typical safari offerings.
Property Details
Kitich Camp features four tents with al fresco stone bathrooms in a tranquil forest setting with game viewing available right from your veranda. The main area has an open fire and sheepskin chairs that overlook the river glade, an excellent spot from which to view game emerging from the forest at dusk. The proprietor is also the proud owner of a Tuscan olive farm, and the cuisine reflects his roots, whether it is served in camp or as a grand bush picnic.
The camp goal is to avoid traditional game drives. Instead, guests will enjoy guided walks in the forests accompanied by expert guides and their host. Walks can range from short and gentle to long and vigorous, with one ninety-minute hike that culminates with a swim in a natural pool deep in the forest. You will also be able to interact with the Samburu people that call this area home.
