Hotel Plaza Grande is the former home of Juan Díaz de Hidalgo, one of the sixteenth century conquerors that founded Quito. This legendary mansion, featuring spectacular examples of neoclassical architecture, was first opened as a hotel in 1943 and was restored and reopened in 2005 as one of Quito’s finest and most luxurious accommodations.
