Mato Grosso

Mato Grosso, in western Brazil, is the third largest state in the country and shares a border with Bolivia. Its large area covers three of Brazil’s ecosystems including the tropical savanna of the cerrado, the tropical wetlands of the Pantanal, and the Amazon Rainforest. With the majority of the local economy dependent on agriculture, the population is spread out over a wide area, and several old ranches have been converted to accommodate visiting guests.

Chapada dos Guimarães National Park includes a mountain range surrounded by cerrado plains and attracts many visitors that come to experience the caves, canyons, and stunning waterfalls, in addition to the many interesting species of wildlife in the area. The Xingu National Park is also located in Mato Grosso, a park created not only to protect the environment but also the indigenous populations that are found in the area. The Pantanal is the largest wetland in the world, formed by an enormous inland delta, and is home to a spectacular array of flora and fauna.

Mato Grosso offers exceptional adventure opportunities in Brazil, from wildlife viewing to interactions with the local indigenous peoples, outdoor activities to chances for amazing sightseeing.
