The Ker & Downey Young Explorers package is a specially designed safari offering families the opportunity to discover the wonders of the African wilderness together. Under the surface, however, you will discover that the Young Explorers program is much more than a safari experience.
One of the special attractions of this Ker & Downey program is its exclusivity. Each family has the use of a private six-bedded camp, two professional guides, personal chef, waiter, housekeeper, and mokoro guides. You are there to explore the bush at your leisure, while never losing sight of the fact that being in the wilderness is also about having fun. The Young Explorers in the Delta is based at Footsteps Camp, an intimate six-bedded camp in the Shinde private concession. Each family books out exclusive use of the camp, thereby overriding the normal walking program at Footsteps Camp and the normal minimum age requirement.
The Young Explorers in the Kalahari is based at Edo's Camp, a private eight-bedded camp on a game conservancy in the western Kalahari. Again, the family books out exclusive use of the camp, thereby overriding the normal safari experience at Edo's with the specific family program. As a third option, the Young Explorers Combination safari, as the name suggests, combines the two packages to offer a broader experience for the families in the contrasting Delta and Kalahari areas.
Your children will never forget this experience in the bush and along the Delta. The emphasis is on conservation, respect for the earth, and learning some genuine bush survival skills along the way.
