Makgadikgadi & Nxai Pans

Formed over a million years ago by a huge lake, these famous salt pans are the earth's largest, defining a stark and remote area - even by Botswana's standards. Blessed by seasonal rains, they have become the feeding and breeding grounds for enormous flocks of flamingo and pelican, while plains game and predators patrol the perimeter. The landscape ranges from moon-like terrain to grasslands and there are places in the pans where the view is so vast you can see the curvature of the earth. The San Bushmen are resident and interactive experiences with them are not to be missed.
