Gagudju Crocodile Holiday Inn

Gagudju Crocodile Holiday Inn is a unique crocodile-shaped hotel in the heart of Kakadu National Park and is a popular base for exploring the region, which has been named a World Heritage Site for both cultural and natural heritage.

Property Details

The hotel’s unique design was created by a Darwin architect with the help of the local Aboriginal people. Guests enter through the crocodile’s jaws which lead to an expansive foyer designed to represent a cool green billabong that also includes a large aboriginal art gallery. The body section houses the hotel’s guest rooms which overlook a courtyard in the center comprising a recreated billabong and a shaded swimming pool representing the crocodile’s heart.

The hotel features two restaurants. The Escarpment Restaurant and Cocktail Bar offers a contemporary menu and buffet options, and the bar features nightly entertainment from March to December. The Gingas Tavern and Bar features an inexpensive bar menu including pizzas and counter foods plus a full selection of alcoholic beverages.

The hotel is just two and a half hours from Darwin and is the ideal location from which to explore Kakadu’s Nourlangie and Ubirr Aboriginal rock art galleries, Yellow Water Billabong, the sandstone escarpment of Arnhem Land, Jim Jim and Twin Falls and more.
