Itinerary Description:

Journey to Cairo first where you are introduced to the rich culture and history of Egypt. The Great Pyramids, Memphis ruins and the Museum of Antiquities are all on the menu on this first city of your trip - an appetizer that sets the stage for amazing encounters. After two days full of magical sightseeing in Cairo, venture south to the Bahariya Oasis to the Qasr El Bawity luxury lodge and the home of the Valley of the Golden Mummies. Over 30 Grecco-Roman tombs, many with elaborate golden masks, were discovered here and continue to be excavated and researched. You will have the rare chance to see these archeological sites, as well as spend time dune bashing in the Black Desert and visiting the limestone formations in the White Desert on a day-long excursion that ends with a swim in the hot spring at Crystal Mountain.

Continue into the Western Desert with a long drive on an old camel route to Siwa Oasis, with breaks at several smaller oases en-route. The Adrère Amellal welcomes you to the understated desert elegance of their earthen eco-lodge, from which you will explore the Siwa's natural springs and ancient fortresses. Here you will experience a world without electricity or Internet and a culture that exists unchanged for nearly 700 years - a true escape. Stand in Alexander's shadow, amidst the columns where he was deified more than a millennium ago at the remains of the Oracle of Amun.

Next, trek towards Alexandria and the Mediterranean sea with a stop in El-Alamein, where a museum and memorial commemorates the pivotal World War II battles that took place here. Arrive in Alexandria and the Four Seasons Alexandria at San Stefano and prepare for your diving tour of the ruins in Alexandria's eastern harbor. You will uncover another era, eerily preserved beneath the surface, filled with ancient monuments, shipwrecks, artifacts and the remains of Pharos, the Lighthouse of Alexandria, one of the Seven Wonders and tallest structure in the ancient world. This great triumph of the city founded by Alexander was lost to earthquake in ancient times and rediscovered by divers in 1994. The Library of Alexandria, another ancient wonder lost, has been reborn in the stunning Bibliotheca Alexandria. Tour this architectural masterpiece, a modern symbol of ancient wisdom, and also discover the ancient catacombs that exist beneath the city.

End your trip on the warm beaches of the Red Sea at Sharm El-Sheikh. Welcomed by the splendor of the Four Seasons Resort Sharm El-Sheikh, you will enjoy splendid amenities with an array of spa treatments and private beaches, as well as authentic, intimate experiences like a traditional dinner with a local Bedouin family in your own private tent. Dive once more in some of the best waters in the world to see a menagerie of underwater denizens - over 250 different coral reefs and 1,000 species of marine life can be found in the clear waters of the Red Sea.
