Itinerary Description:

Begin your Ugandan adventure in the capital city of Kampala, Uganda. Upon your arrival, you will check in at your accommodations, the Kampala Serena Hotel. You will tour the city of Kampala, the cultural, social, political and industrial center of Uganda. See the impact of Ker & Downey Philanthropy at Save Street Children Uganda, an orphanage dedicated to getting the children of Uganda off the street and into a loving home.

One of Uganda’s oldest conservation areas, Murchison Falls is a beautiful area and is bisected by the Nile, making for good game viewing. During your two days in Murchison, you will stay at the Paraa Lodge, a historic hotel with astounding views of Murchison Falls. Take guided nature walks in the park or enjoy a quiet afternoon in the landscaped gardens of Paraa. Daily game drives are available and a special cruise is waiting to take you to the foot of Murchison Falls for spectacular sights of the birds and hippos.

Continue on to the Ndali Lodge in the Kibale National Park. Two days of your journey have been set aside here for a visit to the local villages, the school and an exciting primate walk. But the highlight of your stay in Kibale will be a rare evening in the Toro Kingdom. After checking out the Royal Karambi tombs and the nearby caves, you will spend the rest of the evening in the presence of royalty as you dine with King Omukama Oyo himself in his palace. You will then travel to Queen Elizabeth National Park and the luxurious Mweya Lodge. Queen Elizabeth is a notable destination for wildlife tours, chimpanzee tracking, and birding safaris. While you are here, take advantage and hop in a game vehicle to see the lions, elephants, bushbucks, and the Ugandan kob. Your drive will also include the outstanding scenery along the Crater track which brings visitors to volcanic craters at the foothills of the misty Mountains of the Moon. The view is absolutely breathtaking.

After Queen Elizabeth, it’s on to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest and the Gorilla Forest Camp. From this secluded camp, you will take the next three days to explore the dense forest and its inhabitant gorillas. After early breakfasts, you will go out with guides and rangers to track these gorillas, the journey lasting several hours. You will also enjoy a cultural trip into the local Batwa Pygmies village. Here you will spend a day of discovery in the forest as the pygmies show you how to hunt, use a bow and arrow, find medicine in the plants, as well as other unique aspects of their lifestyle. A portion of your stay is also dedicated to visiting the Bwindi Community Hospital, which provides health care in this region with unique treatments.

Your Ugandan journey begins to wind down as your make a two day stop at the Mihingo Lodge in Lake Mburo National Park. Here you can enjoy both game drives and boat trips into the wild to see the zebras, impalas, elands, topi and buffaloes. Your last destination will be Jinja Nile Resort, a relaxing end to an incredible journey. You will stop at the Equator along the way, visit a local drum maker shop and end your trip with thrilling white water rafting on the bustling Nile River.
