Itinerary Description:

The small camps and lodges visited in this itinerary provide an intimate safari experience in Tanzania, with excellent game viewing in some of the most geographically diverse areas in the country. Light aircraft will bring you to your luxury destinations and maximize the time available for relaxation and safari activities.

Begin your journey at Sand Rivers Selous in the Selous Game Reserve, one of the finest lodges in Africa. Discover elephant, buffalo, crocodile, hippo, and even the rare black rhino without encountering the busy tourist routes of other parts of Tanzania.

Spend a few nights in Ruaha National Park at Mwagusi Safari Lodge. Though it appears dry at first glance, the Mwagusi Sand River provides enough water for thousands of animals to visit it daily, and because of this, the region features superb game viewing and bird watching.

Chada Katavi in Katavi National Park is your next stop. This is one of the few regions where sable and roan antelope share the plains, and the northern area of the park is host to some of the highest concentrations of hippo and crocodile in Tanzania.

Round out your journey with a stay at the beautiful Greystoke Mahale in Mahale Mountains National Park, which is home to some of the last wild chimpanzees in the world. In addition to game viewing here, you can participate in chimp tracking activities, as well as snorkeling and fishing in the world’s second largest freshwater lake.
