Itinerary Description:
Immortalized by poets and revered for centuries by those overcome by its presence, Mt. Kilimanjaro towers like a god over the Great Rift Valley. This safari begins in Kenya in the shadows of Kilimanjaro and continues south to traverse northern Tanzania in comfortable and elegant lodgings throughout.
Begin your journey in the Amboseli National Park in the spacious tents of Tortilis Camp, and experience game drives under the watchful eye of Mt. Kilimanjaro.
Cross the border into Tanzania, and continue on your journey to Lake Manyara National Park and your accommodations at the Lake Manyara Tree Lodge, situated near an ancient mahogany forest where the likes of Ernest Hemmingway once hunted. Enjoy game drives in the vicinity, which is known for its myriad bird life and remarkable tree-climbing lions.
Your explorations continue into the amazing Serengeti National Park, where you have a choice of one of two tasteful and refined safari camps: Grumeti Serengeti Tented Camp and Klein’s Camp. At the right time of year, this area is perfect for experiencing the Great Migration, which traverses different parts of the region on its never-ending search for food and water. Literally millions of wildebeest, zebra, and gazelle form a communal group for protection as they wander between Kenya and Tanzania and back each year.
The journey ends with two nights at Ngorongoro Crater Lodge on the rim of the stunning Ngorongoro Crater. Game drives are carried out in the crater itself, and during your time here, you may even witness Maasai herdsmen grazing their cattle throughout the conservation area.
