Namibia Explorer
Explore the essence of Namibia in this award winning journey selected by National Geographic Traveler as one of the Top 50 Tours of a Lifetime.
A castle in Namibia? Of course! Begin your adventure upon your arrival in Windhoek as you overnight at the delightfully luxurious Hotel Heinitzburg, a castle built by a German aristocrat in the early 1900's.
Next, grab your camera and have it at the ready. Your flight to the NamibRand Nature Reserve will enthrall you as you soar over the dunes. Your accommodation for the next three nights is at the incomparable Wolwedans Dune Lodge.
You will board a "dune hopper" for your next destination, the Huab Valley, via the Skeleton Coast. Here you will understand the meaning of "where the desert meets the sea". This delicate ecosystem will be explored in detail by land rovers and walking treks along the dunes. From here, you will venture to Kaokoland, where you will discover the victims of this craggy coastline: the skeletons of shipwrecks along the coast in Terrace Bay.
Before you leave the region, you will meet the desert people, the Himba tribe. This ancient tribe has managed to successfully preserve their traditions, and the breathtakingly beautiful Himba women will fascinate you with their ochre-drenched hair and red glowing skin as they introduce you to their ancient way of life. Accommodations included in this itinerary are one night in each of the following: Kuidas Camp in the Huab Valley, Purros Camp in Kaokoland and Kunene Camp in the Kunene River region. Each camp is unique and exclusive, providing incredible and unforgettable destinations and experiences.
Onwards from the Skeleton Coast, you will fly in your shared charter aircraft to the Onguma Private Reserve, situated on the edge of Etosha National Park. This private reserve gives guests an exclusive entrance into the flora and wildlife of Etosha National Park. Your accommodation for the next three nights will be at the beautiful Onguma Tented Camp.
Depart back to Windhoek as your journey comes to an end, with one more delightful night spent in luxury at Hotel Heinitzburg.
Of course, you can book this journey exactly as it has been designed for your own award-winning experience, or you can borrow "elements" of the itinerary destinations to create your own customized journey. Talk to our travel experts who will help you design your own Journey of a lifetime.
