Sossusvlei Desert Lodge is planted within the Namib Desert, surrounded by sand dunes, mountains, and a landscape that begs for exploration. No survival skills are necessary in this beautiful environment, just a keen sense of adventure and a desire to experience one of the world's untouched wildernesses.
With 10 luxurious suites hosting up to 20 guests at a time, Sossusvlei Desert Lodge is a desert escape where the ultimate in privacy and peace can be attained. Glass and stone structures shelter interiors clad in modern cream upholstery, crisp white linens, and rosy pink accents. Timber is incorporated throughout the fixtures, surfaces, and decorations in each space, scattered to echo the petrified trees found in the region. Air conditioning is included to combat the unforgiving elements, and the huge floor-to-ceiling windows slide open should guests wish to experience an immersive open-air environment, even if just temporarily. When night falls so do the temperatures in the desert, but thankfully the room’s fireplace is there to provide heat and to enhance the mood. Finally, the roof of each suite is fitted with a skylight designed for stargazing without having to leave the bed.
Tempting as it may be to stay cocooned in the opulence of the suite, the main lodge beckons, offering nourishment and conversation. The wraparound porch creates a beautiful viewpoint from every angle, ideal for relaxing as the sun sets and enjoying an unforgettable dinner with a view. An underground spring feeds the swimming pool, and the talented chefs feed diners around the clock, crafting meals that energize and satisfy. Pair dinner with a selection of vintages from the impressive wine cellar and raise a toast to the adventures of the day.
Activities at Sossusvlei Desert Lodge take the safari experience to new heights – literally, when embarking on a thrilling hot air balloon ride over the rolling dunes and sprawling landscape. The oryx, springbok, mountain zebra, and leopard are among the desert dwellers that can be seen on game drives with the lodge trackers and guides. By night, visit the state-of-the-art observatory to gaze up into the endless sky with the resident astronomer, pinpointing the constellations and celestial wonders only seen in the southern hemisphere.Request Information
