Beyond its plethora of elephant herds, Belmond Savute Elephant Lodge is also perfect for bird lovers with over 250 bird species, most of which are native to the region. With two safari drives per day in different areas of the Savute, there are limitless opportunities to encounter the area’s leopards, lions, cheetahs, hyenas, giraffe, wild dogs, zebra, and rare species of Roan and Sable antelope. The guides are superb in both their depth of knowledge and in their ability to make guests feel truly welcome in the bush.

While out on safari, be sure to visit the San Rock bushmen paintings and to take advantage of sundowners under the Baobab trees. Back at the lodge, the team has put together a lively boma dining experience under the stars, where guests are urged to join in on the traditional festivities of dance and song. There is no better way to experience this corner of the world than gathered around the fire, listening to the night sounds and marveling at the blanket of stars above.
