The Hotel Saratoga in Havana is regarded as the finest hotel in Cuba.

In 2013, Hotel Saratoga was the choice hotel of Beyonce and Jay-Z when they traveled to Cuba, and it has hosted a number of diplomats and celebrities throughout the years. It’s certainly the most coveted accommodation in Havana. For a city that seems frozen in time, the Hotel Saratoga might seem a bit out of place. Built in the thirties, the neoclassical facade of the hotel remains, but it has been updated with more modern furnishings, floor-to-ceiling windows, and Internet access.

You couldn’t ask for a better location either. Located within walking distance to many major sites on the edge of Old Havana, the Hotel Saratoga overlooks the Partagas cigar factory and Capitol building. And just around the corner, you’ll find the Floridita, a favorite hangout of Ernest Hemingway. Though the colonnade probably saw a few Ernest Hemingway sightings too, as it welcomed many writers, artists, and socialites who gathered there with a cocktail to enjoy the musical flavors of the city in its heyday.

Its 96 rooms and suites are spacious and clean with views that stretch across the city and are equipped with modern conveniences like en-suite bathrooms, satellite televisions and DVD players, and 24-hour room service.

The Hotel Saratoga also boasts a gym, spa, two restaurants, and a rooftop swimming pool that has incredible views of Havana. In the Hotel Saratoga’s airy atrium, you can settle in with a cigar and a mojito or enjoy tapas at the Anacaona Restaurant, named after the renowned all-women Cuban orchestra that used to play at the hotel in the thirties. And at Terrace Mirador on the top floor of the hotel, you can enjoy light food like pizza, sandwiches, and grilled meats while taking in the views of the city and sea.
