Galapagos Safari Camp

Nestled amidst forest and brush, Galapagos Safari Camp is a luxurious tented camp offering a unique way to explore the Galápagos. One of only a handful of luxury tented camps in South America, this leading accommodation continues to remain a favorite in the Enchanted Islands and an essential stop on any South America itinerary.

Property Description

Nine tents on raised platforms comprise the accommodations at the camp, each protected by three layers of specially-designed outer canvas. Pass through the tent on the elevated wood balcony to find a spacious interior set off by custom furnishings and an en-suite bath. Relax on the hammock and balcony furnishings or sit at the writing desk to plan and reflect on the day’s travels. An electric fan and heater, flush toilet, hot shower, and plush bedding provide comfort in the seemingly-rustic spaces. Families will especially love the large three-bedroom family suite accommodation option, as well as the afternoon Kids Club activities, which allow the children to be entertained while parents wind down before dinner.

Land and Sea Location

Galapagos Safari Camp is its own Robinson Crusoe hideaway, occupying a wooden perch on Santa Cruz Island. This specific plot of land straddles what is known as the transition zone bordering the coastal “lowlands” of Galapagos National Park and the agriculture “highlands” of Santa Cruz Island. Only here can visitors combine the best of the Galapagos’ land with the sea, pairing tortoise reserve visits and bird watching hikes with diving, snorkeling, and island hopping in the cerulean waters. From its hilltop location, Galapagos Safari Camp also boasts one of the best views in the world, with a panorama that stretches across the island-dotted Pacific. The endless view of blue is ever-present beyond the picture windows and verandas and is best witnessed from the Sunset Viewpoint.

Exclusive Experiences

Perhaps the most indulgent facet of Galapagos Safari Camp is its private guided menu of excursions, which encourage guests to experience the nature of this treasured region in its purest form. Set out to explore the “highlands” of Santa Cruz Island, the plains once used for cattle farming, now being reclaimed by native trees with the help of the camp’s conservation project. Visit the neighboring tortoise reserve to meet the ancient denizens, or hike through the farm to see bird life including finches, warblers, Galapagos doves, and owls. Head toward the coast and the “lowlands” of Santa Cruz for snorkeling and relaxing on the white beaches. Day trips to other islands can also be arranged, combining the best of the Galapagos’ land with the sea.

Impeccable Service

Galapagos Safari Camp’s attention to personalized service cannot be underscored enough. Arriving back to camp after a day of adventure promises a warm and enthusiastic greeting. Spare time is best spent at the elevated main lodge, soaking in magnificent panoramic views from the floor-to-ceiling windows and wrap-around veranda. Outside, a cozy fireplace creates the perfect setting for enjoying a drink from the bar or a game of chess in the lounge. Dine from the local and international menu, prepared fresh by hand using organic produce and meats tended on the 55-hectare farm. Sheltered by the flora and overlooking the forest and sea, the camp’s Infinity pool offers a welcome cool dip amidst tranquil surroundings.

Appropriate Luxury

Galapagos Safari Camp has found a unique way to bring the African luxury safari experience to The Enchanted Islands. Its collection of nine elevated tents stand toe-to-toe in both amenities and style with those you might find in the Okavango or Kruger. What's more, the camp subscribes to a policy of "Appropriate Luxury" whereby they work nature to minimize impact, all while enhancing guests’ natural experiences. Examples of this Appropriate Luxury in action include: limiting capacity to just 10 rooms, choosing canvas over concrete, using water responsibly and sustainably, rewilding former cattle farms, removing plastics, and minimizing food waste.
